Government Consent for WWTP

We are delighted to announce that Owers Warwick Architects masterplan for Anglian Water Services Waste Water Treatment Plant for Cambridge has received Government consent. This is one of the largest and most significant infrastructure projects in East Anglia. The ambitious, low-carbon and bio-diverse plan enables the development of a new district in North East Cambridge, which should deliver over 8,000 homes, 15,000 new jobs and a wide range of community, cultural and open space facilities.

The masterplan includes publicly accessible pedestrian, cycle and equestrian links to the surrounding countryside and uses the material excavated through tunnelling to create a sculptural and richly planted landscape. The new plant, at the heart of the masterplan, accommodates changing social and environmental priorities, increasing resilience to storm flows and flooding and provides a long-term solution to how we best treat waste water for a growing Greater Cambridge population.

Owers Warwick Architects are looking forward to developing the masterplan, as well as key architectural elements of the scheme together with the project team.
